ON THE DEFINITION OF
HYPERMETROPIA

Hypermetropia may then be defined as that condition
of the eye in which there is a shortening of the antero-posterior diameter
of the ball, or the positive refracting power of the eye is deficient, and
the result in either case is that the focus is behind the retina.
Or, in
other words, the diameter or length of the eye-ball is less than the focal
length of its dioptric apparatus.
